“The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way; but the folly of the fools is deceit.” Prov. 14:8
Today’s Christian daily devotional
I was a dancer at a strip club for many years. During that time, countless men told me every lie that I craved to hear. The words these strangers said filled my love-starved heart with a false sense of worth. For the first time in my life, I felt important and valued; and it felt good.
In the back of my mind I knew the empty things they said carried no weight. Yet, their lies temporarily eased the dull ache of my broken heart. I was living, working and trying to survive in a world that took advantage of my brokenness.
After a while, I no longer bought the lies. I started to crave the truth. Something told me that no matter how painful it would be, that it was the only thing that would ever set me free. I was a bound by the torment of my insecurities.
In my search for the truth, I found love. I started reading the Bible and although I learned I did many things that were not worthy of an eternity in heaven, God loved me enough to send His Son. I accepted Jesus into my heart and He showed me the love I had been searching for my whole life.
God loves every person He took the time to create. Sometimes we cannot understand a God of love, because we life in world that does not run on love—it runs on the fuel that desires to suck the life and the hope out of every one of God’s creations. Don’t lose hope. God is there. Just look for Him with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. He has been waiting for you.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I almost lost hope. It is sometimes distracting to live in a world that consumes all innocence and goodness. Help everyone who needs to find you, open your word and look for you. Help them to understand how much you love them and that you sent your most precious Son to die for their sins just so you could spend eternity with them.
Lord, open the eyes of the lost to search for you. Bless all the seedy and dark places of this world. In that darkness, your light shines brighter.
Bless everyone with the presence of your love and heal the hearts that are broken. The world needs your love, Lord. I pray that the needy one’s can accept it, even it they don’t understand it. In Jesus’ name, bless the whole earth because it is a very dark place to be today, Amen.”
