“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” Ps. 18:1-2
Today’s daily devotional
“I have no confidence in any candidate anymore!” My husband slams the remote control down and stomps to the fridge to find solace in his carbohydrates.
It is frustrating to have confidence when there is nothing solid to grasp onto.
Many people are confused, anxious and fearful over their future. Turning on the news today or listening to the latest fear/smear campaigns does not do much to make it better.
Many people who claim to be God’s people have lost full confidence in Him, and I believe there is a solid reason for this. They have not only taken the wisdom of God, but they have diluted it by mixing in the “wisdom” of this world.
When we share our convictions with opposing thoughts and ideals, we are actually taking the power out of what we actually believe in. The foundations of our belief system are not consistent, and therefore it becomes far from solid. Our convictions become as reliable as the next presidential candidate.
You must make a choice. You must decide what you believe. To quote Abraham Lincoln, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” That kind of ignorance is beneath your potential. Rise up to yourself.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I am a hypocrite. I have gotten beyond angry and upset by people who have sputtered empty promises to my face, only to do the exact opposite the minute I turn my back.
Lord, I see that I have done this to you. I have said I believed in you as my God, and then trusted in myself, in my money and other things to get me to where I wanted to go. Lord, if you were God of my life, where would I be today? I can only imagine. Today, I want to rise up in faith and turn from every choice that is branding me as a double-minded person. I want to be stable, consistent and successful. This can only happen if I follow the leadership of someone who has those qualities. Lord, you are the kind of leader that will never steer me wrong.
I choose to follow you. I will not look backward, I will not be a hypocrite like I have been in the past, I will do what is right and I will find out exactly what that is by soaking myself in the presence of your word every day. In Jesus’ precious name, help me to keep my promise to you and to do it with much joy, Amen.”
