“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
What do you see when you soak in the reality of the world around you? Do you see the world as an ugly place? Do you see it as a place of beauty? Is there room for improvement?
I believe this verse is instructing all of us who desire more out of life to go deeper within ourselves. 2 Peter 1:4 is inviting all of us to partake in the promises of a better life. We are responsible for the beauty we leave in the world around us. If we make the choice to reach in and develop the most beautiful parts of our inner spirit, we are in fact making the world quite beautiful.
By reaching deeper and working with God to develop our own character will we begin to recognize changes that reflect the same nature that was within Christ.
If we allow the power of the Holy Spirit to convict us of our own unrighteousness we will then have the power to confess and release ourselves from the ugly strongholds that have been holding back our lives from reaching our God-given potential.
When we give God control of our mind, our hearts and our desires, we will BECOME the beauty that we crave to see in the world. Then we will start walking in a way that reflects the pure nature of Christ. Others will see this rare quality and crave to be close to us; to have a piece of that same beauty for themselves as well. Persue a life that is so beautiful that you will inspire others to want whatever it is that you got. Allow the beauty of God to be your beauty secret.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I see now! I know that the dissatisfaction from the world is actually a GIFT from you. The restlessness in my heart and soul comes from a deep desire to be surrounded by your presence. The presence I crave must come from ME. If I want it, and I already know you, I can only imagine how hopeless the world that does not know you or has never soaked in your wonderful presence. Let me be a beacon of hope for the ones who have lost all hope. Light the fire within my soul to not look around me for inspiration, as there is not much depth from the inspiration that the world provides. Whenever I think of my own desire for your presence let me walk closer to you so I can show the world just how real you are and that you DO live inside of ME! In Jesus’ precious name, to be a hope in a “hope-less” world, Amen.”
