“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that comimitteth fornication sinneth against his own body.” I Corinthians 6:18

“So, has McMullen had a chance to taste the local fare?” Rod nudged a fellow recruit, his wild blue eyes dancing mischievously.
Toby laughed along with his new buddies, hoping they would move onto teasing another soldier.
“I have a feeling the answer is no.” Rod flicked his cigarette into the dusty ground, stomping it out with his boot.
“Think you’re too good to be one of the boys?” He looked to the right and the left, shaking his head in disdain.
“No.” Toby’s voice sounded more confident than he felt.
“So, then, it’s settled. Tonight we are celebrating our graduation from the military academy…and we’re going to get hammered in every way that we can.” Rapidly lifting his brows up and down, Rod licked his lips in perverted anticipation.
I Corinthians 6:18 powerfully warns all men and women to avoid the sin of fornication. In light of today’s reality of sexually transmitted diseases, this Biblical truth is strongly backed by medical studies and reports.
The more sexual partners one engages with, the more opportunities are available to contract and pass an actual disease. Not only is this devastating to the individual involved, but it has the power to disrupt the future lives of people and families they aren’t even aware of!
Toby wasn’t planning on being a soldier boy forever. He had dreams of one day starting a family of his own. If he followed the wisdom of 1 Corinthians 6:18, he could live under a blessing. His future wife would be eternally grateful. Toby has the power NOW to save her from the myriad of pain that sexual sins can bring upon a marriage.
But, if Toby chose to do what everyone else was doing, he was gambling with his own future health and happiness.
Are you casting your precious pearls before swine? Before you mindlessly go down the path of least resistance, ask God to help you choose the higher path. He will.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I want to do better. I always wake up and plan to.
But, somehow, the day gets going and my gallant efforts seem to get swept into the undertow of life.
It’s so hard to stay strong in a world that has so many delicious temptations around every corner.
Lord, help me to think of my body as an honorable vessel that holds the Holy Spirit inside. Remind me that when I choose to defile myself sexually, the Holy Spirit is there. Not only seeing what I do, but feeling it, too.
Lord, give me a heart to honor the people I date. As I embark on searching for that life-mate you have created just for me, help me to treat each person I date with the respect I would like given for my future wife.
In Jesus’ precious name, bless my body and my conscience to be sanctified and separated first for you, then for the one you have chosen for me. Amen.”
