“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And the base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are. That no flesh should glory in His presence.” 1 Cor.1:27-29

Take a moment and read those verses again a little slower. Digest them. When you really ponder what exactly they mean, it is pretty clear: God does not work like how man works. This revelation has given my heart much hope! In so many ways, man (knowingly or unknowingly) has let me down. (I have let myself down as well.) But, despite the weakness that we have, God has made provision for that! Isn’t it amazing that God CHOOSES to use the weak and humble things of this world to confound the wise and mighty? Why do you think that is? I believe it is because God is a good God. He blesses all of His creation in very different ways. Just as there are thousands of different personality types and ethnicities; God has created each human being with strengths and limitations. The ones who are humble and weak enough to admit their limitations will reap the benefit of a God that will use those very weaknesses for His glory. Thank God for that! I am just about the weakest person I know and up until I read that verse, I was “down” on myself about this! Not anymore.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I never thought I would be praying a prayer of thankfulness for being weak, but here I am! Lord, thank you for being such a thoughtful and merciful God. What a creative God you are for working with the people and circumstances that most humans don’t have the patience for. Lord, I am asking you to help all the proud and mighty people that seem to have it all, (according to the world’s standards), and show them their weaknesses. This is what we all need to “keep it real” and to get healed. No one is perfect; no one is mighty—no matter what the world says or how they look on the outside. We are all just flawed humans in need of a savior. Lord, you are more than God. You are a savior, a friend, a mentor, a healer, a guide and a deliver…you are so much more than man’s vocabulary can even begin to describe! I ask that you put the desire in each man’s heart to humbly seek you, and when they find you, you will reveal to them the power of your greatness and the wonderful intimacy of a relationship with you. You being God is a great thing, but you being a loving Father is the greatest gift of all!
