“”Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” Matt 10:16
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
This verse is so eye-opening and reflective of the character of Jesus. Jesus was kind and self-less, but He certainly was no fool! As a Christian it is our duty to mirror the God we follow. We must be kind, but we must also keep our eyes open and be aware. Follow Christ’s lead, and ask for Him to give you the wisdom of when to show empathy and love, and when to give ‘tough love’ and always above all things, speak from the heart in truth.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
The world is full of people that enjoy taking advantage of the kind. I want to walk in love, like you have instructed in Your Word. I desire to believe the best in everybody but I don’t want to be a ni’eve fool, either! Can you help me to discern who I can trust, and show me how to love the un-loveable? You did it, and you instructed me to do the same. Can you protect my heart, because as I take the risk of loving hurt people, I will inevitably be hurt myself. Protect me from being scared and bitter when this happens. Allow me to see the bright side of what I learned from the situation, and give me the strength to keep doing the right thing even when it hurts. Turn that pain into joy, as I know doing your will is actually serving you, and at the same time, is sharpening me to be the strong, solid person you want me to be.
Amen.”
