“And said unto them, whosoever shall receive this child in my name recieveth me; and whosoever shall receive me receiveth Him that sent me: for He that is least among you all, the same shall be great.” Luke 9:48
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
Think about how the world works today. Unless you are a “name”, you’re pretty much considered a “nobody”, right? Well, not in God’s eyes! I think it is so awesome that God takes much joy when His children treat people like Jesus Himself did. Think about it—Jesus went and healed and delivered the “garbage” of society. He reached out to lepers, prostitutes, the lame and the sick. These people were not “rock stars”. Most of them were not in the position to do anything for Jesus.
Think about your life. Who do you know in your circle that has a need? Think about what a blessing you would be to be to them if you met that need with a pure heart (having no expectation for receiving anything in return). Ask the Lord to show you the world through HIS eyes, and He will. Ask Him to lead you to the people that need encouragement, prayer or maybe just a smile, He will.
Serving others that cannot return anything to you is a true statement of the condition of your heart. What if we all were to do that for one day? How beautiful would the world be and how long would it take for good to overcome evil? You cannot control other’s behavior but you can control your own. And, with God on your side, you can do a lot more than the average human!
“Dear Heavenly Father,
How many of your “celebrities” have I ignored? How many of your people have I brushed off to serve people that could benefit me? Show me the condition of my heart, the intentions of every good deed, and then create within me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit within me. I want to serve the people that need to be served and heal the wounds that need to be healed with a love that is unconditional. Lord, this is impossible to do with my past experiences of being hurt, but with you, I know that all things are possible. Work a miracle in my life and show me how to love and serve others the way Jesus did. I give you my heart in exchange for yours; I give you my life to serve, as you want me to. Restore my vision to be the kind that Adam had before the corruption of sin took over him. In Jesus’ precious name, for the honor of bringing many more into your kingdom, Amen.”
