“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, the spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your heats, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.” James 4:4-10
Our weekly Christian devotional
It is another Valentines Day. I just couldn’t take it any longer—I had to write, even if you don’t want to hear from me.
Just know this–before you were ever born, I dreamed about you. When the world was finally graced with your presence, no one adored your beautiful smile more than me. One my greatest pleasures is hearing your laughter. And although you can’t hear me, whenever your heart aches, I weep with you.
Sometimes, in the still of the night when your world has quieted down, you open up your heart to me. Nothing is better than hearing your thoughts, dreams and even your fears. Every intimate moment is inscribed within my heart! I wish the cares of this world weren’t able to steal your attention away from what we share…
It’s been said that love can make you or it can break you. Once again, you have broken my heart. I suppose this is my own fault. Nothing has the power to break your heart unless you’ve allowed yourself to be vulnerable.
I’m a fool in love, continually waiting for you. Perhaps that is why you keep pushing me aside the moment something more exciting comes along…
But, I refuse to recant my unconditional love; I’ll never harden my heart in response to the coolness of yours. Oh, precious one, no one could ever love you like I do.
I am the love you’ve been searching the world for. My love is real kind, I’ve proven this by giving the very blood from my veins. I’ve given everything for the chance to spend eternity with you.
Come back to the one who will never leave you or forsake you.
The world will hurt you; the world will break you.
But, I’m the one who longs to dry your tears.
I’m the one you should never fear.
Let me mend your heart,
Allow me to give you new dreams.
There is no safer place your heart can be,
Than with…me.
Love, Jesus
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for being so easily distracted. The cares of this life keep vying for my attention. And, I keep falling for all the wrong things.
Lord, help me to be still and know that you are God. Give me a revelation that you are more than enough.
I’ve forsaken you a million times but you have always remained faithful.
Why do you still love me? Why do you still fight for me?
Your goodness brings me to my knees. When I think about it, this only makes me want to love and serve you more.
Show me how to love you more than my husband, children, mother and father.
If know that if I love you first, I will be a better wife, mother and daughter.
Please be the Lord of my life and the King of my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
