“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” Prov. 27:20
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
I urge you to look at that verse once again. When I really mull it over, the thing that really pops out to me is: Man will never be satisfied. Just knowing that bit of wisdom from God gives me much peace in my restlessness for more. It shows me that my personal struggle with greed is actually a global human struggle. Despite the fact that this sin is one that many struggle with, it does not make being greedy right. Hell is filled with souls who chose to serve their desires rather than God Himself. Bt acknowledging that many have chosen the path has led to this kind of eternal damnation; we have the opportunity to choose wisdom and to learn from the mistakes of the ones highlighted in this verse. Is your favorite sin worth it? In my opinion, nothing is worth my eternal destiny.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
The life of restraint is not an easy life. On the other hand, the life of being chained to the whims of my fleeting desires is not an easy life, either. Lord, I am not looking for the easy way anymore. The lie of the devil is that there is an easier way around life. Lord, I choose wisdom today. I need it so I can make better choices and over time, I can enjoy the good results of those hard decisions. Lord, help me to see beyond what I want for the moment. I have lived the lie of living for today with no regard for tomorrow. I regret this. One day, when my life is over, will face you at the Judgment seat. I want to be ready to say that I loved you so much I gave up every single thing standing between me getting to know and serve you better. In Jesus’ precious name, I give up all my excuses today. There is no excuse for bad behavior. Amen.”
