“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” Prov. 12: 15
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
I know a man who is a legend in his own mind. He knows it all and he is not shy to drone on about his plethora of information—it does not matter if anyone is actually interested, engaged or intrigued. This man will “educate” anyone within ears reach.
The sad part about it is, although he is educated on many different subjects, he is also just as foolish. He will not listen. Therefore his learning has stopped. How unfortunate it is to see a man who is foolish enough to think he knows it all. He sincerely believes there is not a thing he can learn from another person’s experience or education.
A wise man is actually a man that is humble enough to admit his shortcomings and rises up to the people that can educate him. He pursues excellence by learning from those who know more than him, because he is open to the reality that he could not possibly know it all. Which person are you? If you are smart, you will admit you are not “all that”.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I want to be the kind of person that never stops learning. Lord, help me with my issue of pride. I sometimes struggle with over-confidence, and this is actually the very thing that could become my downfall. I know deep in my heart, there is much for me to learn, and no matter how educated I am according the world’s standards, I will always have much to learn in my relationship with people and with you. Lord, I pray that you bless me with an open mind. Help me to see the areas I need to polish up in and lead me to the people who can best help me become a better person. Lord, if there is someone that can learn from my mistakes and education, help me to have the heart of a mentor and help those who need it and are searching for it. In Jesus’ precious name, because we all need each other more than we know, Amen.”
