“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
A friend of mine (who is not a believer in Christ) requested for me to pray for her about an ongoing health issue. She said that when I pray, good things happen for her. I know this phenomenon has nothing to do with ME. It has everything to do with the name in which I am praying in behalf of. The last time she asked me to pray for her, she requested that I omit one thing: the name of Jesus. She was not comfortable with me honoring the name of Jesus.
I told her if I were to remove the name of Jesus, my prayer would have no power. It would be like trying to drive a car that had no gas; it would not work. God created the universe to work in a certain order. Nobody can argue with gravity. Gravity does what it does, and whether we like it or not, we have to adjust to the laws of it. Prayer works because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. When we have an issue and we come to God and remind Him that our pain and suffering was already paid for at the cross, we unleash the power of God to work on Christ’s behalf. If anyone asks for prayer from me, it has to come with Jesus. He is the one with the power to move mountains.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Your grace is so amazing that you allow so many to survive and THRIVE well. Even the one’s that don’t acknowledge the power of you! This can get confusing, because many feel they can survive without you. We are dependent on your grace. Please allow us all not to abuse that grace. Please give more grace to the ones who don’t understand that prayer to “any” higher power is NOT YOU. Only through what Jesus did on the cross, can we come to you and fully expect you to hear our cries. Lord, your grace is sufficient for all of us. I ask that you cover us with the humility to understand that we could never take another breath in our lungs if it wasn’t for that amazing grace. Have mercy on us, as we fumble around this dark world. We need you. In JESUS precious, holy, irreplaceable name, Amen.”
