“How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, and I will make known my words unto you.” Prov. 1:22
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
Are you bored with life? For me watching television makes me restless. It seems there is hardly anything of substantial quality for me to commit sitting down for! It is interesting that the Bible states that a fool hates knowledge. By watching pop culture today, it is also interesting to note that many of the “popular” television stars mock anything that makes common sense. Does this bother you at all? It does for me! I love the latter portion of Prov. 1:22. If we are frustrated by the lack of depth in the influences around us, it is as simple as calling out to God Himself to pour His Spirit of wisdom and understanding to fill your life with depth, meaning and inherent knowledge that goes beyond your natural years. He also gave us an interesting book filled with drama, intrigue and wisdom to learn from (that is also quite entertaining). Thank goodness we don’t have to live “down” to the expectations of our time. We can rise above it, if we are hungry enough to!
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for allowing us to tap into the infinite power and wisdom of your Spirit. As I look at the world around me, I am frustrated with the lack of morals, the disdain for discipline and the mockery of habits that are healthy for me and for society. Please give me some of your Spirit. I want to go beyond what everyone around me is doing and becoming. I want to grow up to be the person you designed me to be before I allowed the influence of the sinful world around me to taint my thoughts and actions. Lord, I am rededicating myself in my commitment to serving you with my whole heart. In Jesus’ precious name, so I can live a life of integrity, Amen.”
