“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of god, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Cor. 6:19-20
Today’s Christian daily devotional
I almost lost my life three years ago. And although I am still relatively young, I do not take the things that I used to for granted anymore.
Every beautiful ray of sunshine, tasty morsel of cookie and every drive along the beach is another reason to celebrate for me.
The wonderful freedom that I have learned through the pain of almost leaving this life is that I have learned to put value in the things that really matter.
For many years my motto for life was: No regrets. I did what I wanted, when I wanted, exactly how I wanted to. I had little regard for anything or anybody else.
Today, on this side of death, I continue to live by that same motto. Only now I have a different motive and perspective propelling me forward.
I still want a life with no regrets. But, this time I am keeping this in mind–when it is my time to leave this life, I want to enter into the next knowing that I gave it my best and lived a life of service to the God who so mercifully gave it back to me.
My life is in God’s hands—all of our lives are, actually; whether we chose to give credit to Him or not.
If God has saved you from an impossible situation, how thankful are you? Do you wake up each day with a song in your heart for the new chance you have to express your gratefulness to Him?
Your life is an expression of your desires, goals and dreams. God wants to be a part of those. Will you let Him? I can say with confidence that you will not regret letting God get involved with your life. You will never be the same again and maybe that is just the miracle you have been looking for.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for another day of life. Thank you for this beautiful world you created and the variety of people that are in it.
Today, I want to honor you with my life. I want you to put a new desire in my heart. Erase all the corrupt desires that are stopping me from the dream you have placed deep in my heart.
Let’s make your dreams for my life come true, starting today. Right now, I dedicate myself to you. I want what you want for me. I want to give you all I have. I trust that you will do good things with every part that I give to you, because I know that everything that touches the hand of God is blessed. Bless me, Lord to serve you everyday of my life starting right now. In Jesus’ precious name, I accept all the love and healing that I need to begin this new commitment with joy and strength, Amen.”
