“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
I just experienced my first “Sprinkles” cupcake. Forget the fact that I am about three years behind the trend— my friend gushed about them for so long, I finally caved in (despite my anti-carb diet).
As my teeth sunk past the slightly-whipped, not-too-sweet chocolate frosting, I felt my mouth explode in carnal ecstasy. The moist yellow cake brought back childhood memories of my chubby, sticky fingers dipped in my mom’s precious cake batter. I can see why my girlfriend proudly brings a box to every social gathering.
It is natural to share our passions with the people we care about. This is one of the wonderful joys of being involved with life. Our experiences become more meaningful the more you allow others to join in them. It is very human to open up about the things we have a passion for.
If we do this with simple pleasures like boutique sales and our favorite restaurant, why can’t we do this for things that really matter, like eternal peace?
Reaching out to others means we risk rejection; but if we really strived to be a real friend, we would care more about their eternal future than we are about our own ridicule. This is the love of others that Christ always preached about.
When we live like Christ our life becomes a living witness. We can show the world that God is actullly is in the business of changing lives. When we give God the credit for our success we are testifying that God answers prayers. When we bow our heads in reverence to God during prayer, we are taking a bold and public stand for Him. All these things, if done with an attitude of humility, are a strong witness and a stand for Christ.
As we grow in the Lord, He may prompt our hearts (and build our cuputzah) to do more. It is imperative to remain sensitive to His voice, by daily obeying it.
Christianity has never been about comfort. We get that when we pass onto the next life. During this phase of existence, try telling your friends that you have tasted the Lord. And He is BY FAR better than any flavor Sprinkle’s cupcake offers!
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I see the world capsizing around me and I have a peace because I know without a doubt where my soul will go for eternity. Lord, so many out there are not sure. The god of this world has deceived them into distraction with the things that don’t eternally matter and are not even stable to rely on in THIS LIFE.
Deep in our souls we know that no matter how popular, beautiful and rich we are, those things will not matter when death comes.
So many are living today as if death will never come. “Laugh, and eat cake for tomorrow we die!” is the mind-set that is leading countless into eternity without you, God. It sounds good from this side of death, but we know in our hearts, it will not be good on the other side.
I pray that all who know you and love you share you with the people they love. May they see thier friends who don’t have peace or know youreach out and tell them before it is too late. I pray for the ones who have tried to quiet their souls with every other comfort BUT you…that you will grab them by their heartstrings in their moment of weakness when they just don’t want to take another breath in this life, and remind them that you can make all things new.
You are a good God. I pray that they will reach out to your Word and you will speak directly to their hearts through it. In Jesus’ precious name, please bind the god of this world, expose the lies he has entrapped the world with. You are beyond good and the evil in this life is only a touch of the evil that satan hopes we experience for eternity. Bless us all with your presence and boldness today, Amen.”
