“Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under the foot of men.” Matt. 5:13
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
I get a lot of flack for stating my faith. To some degree, I can understand that the world is not used to anyone making a strong statement for anything anymore. Most people care too much about not offending others.
Although it is a noble gesture, I look closer at the motive and I see beneath that appearance, it is a selfish choice. Who wants to rattle feathers? Start a conversation that might insight passions or deep thinking? Being politically correct is NOT thinking of the other person when it comes to faith. If you truly believe that Christ died on the cross, and He is the ONLY way, the ONLY truth, the ONLY light, then you know what will happen to those who take any other path. It may not be what others want to hear, but it may be exactly what they need to hear. If you don’t tell them, who will? Can you live with that?
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I admit, I have lost my savour. I see how politically incorrect it is to say the name of Jesus in public. It seems that any other name is accepted. (Buddah, Allah, Ghandi..) I know you are the only truth. I know you died to take away the sins of the world. I know, just as there is a certain way to get to my house, that there is only one way to heaven; and that is through your Son, Jesus. Lord, forgive me for being scared of losing my friends, of risking my reputation or just not being comfortable with being uncomfortable for you. Your Son suffered much for me, and my selfishness is a shame. I ask that you not only forgive me, but empower me. I need to be filled with the power of you so I can be a good witness that loves others more than my need to be accepted. In Jesus’ precious name, to make every drop of blood He shed not be wasted, Amen.”
