“Good understanding giveth favor; but the way of transgressors is hard.” Prov. 13:15
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
Some people learn things the hard way. At one point of my life, I was one of those types. Thankfully, I discovered this verse in time to realize what a foolish waste of a life this is!
Prov. 13:15 is simply stating that if we take the time to think about things before we make the choice to do them, we can avoid a lot of heartache and trouble in our lives.
Many people fashion their lives around reacting to situations. They do not take the time or put in the effort to actually make a plan. Although many of these well-intentioned people have dreams for their lives, they do not have a clear vision.
It is hard to have a good life, if you do not take the effort to plan for one. Life is an opportunity. What are you doing with the one chance you have? There is no better guide for a good life than God Himself. Allow Him to lead and you will have a life that is filled with favor, not heartache.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I have gone down the hard road so many times it is difficult for me to see that there is any other way to live. Prov. 13:15 promises favor for those who take the time to understand and plan—Lord, what is your plan for my life? What am I doing that is wasting my precious time? What should be doing to invest in my future? I am going to stop for a moment and ask for you to bless me with wisdom. Help me to continue to seek your guidance so I can have the kind of life that is blessed. My life has not gotten very far with my own wisdom. I am willing to let you take over. I am excited to see where your paths will lead me. Thank you for blessing me as I know that the road I am now on will only lead to good things, for you are a God that I trust. In Jesus’ precious name, help me to trust you more than I have ever trusted you before, Amen.”
