“And I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
If you are under 12, you might have a hard time understanding the wisdom of that verse. I think the older one gets, the truer this verse rings. One of the blessings of giving is that when you do it with a pure heart, the joy is something money could never buy. What a pleasure it is to satisfy somebody’s wish, or even be an answer to their secret prayer!
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this teaching. In today’s world, so many people are takers. But, according to your Word, if we give to others with a willing heart, we are blessed to be able to give and blessed in our giving to others. I never thought of it that way! Lord, help me to not get angry when I see people continuing to stick their hands out for more. Just help me to be sensitive by not doing this to others (or even you) in my own life. Preserve my attitude to always give with a loving heart, even if I cannot give what many people may ask from me. If I have the means to help others, open up my heart to be unselfish and to give with joy and great pleasure. If I don’t have the means to give like I want to, help me to bless that person in some other way. Let not a moment or an incident go by where I do not see the glory and the honor in giving. If I never get another earthly “thank you” from man, allow me to remember that you never got one either. And you painfully took this reality while you were dying for the world’s sins. This remembrance will keep my petty need for gratitude in check. In Jesus precious name, for the glory of you and for you alone, Amen.”
