“But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.” 2 Cor. 10:17-18
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
It is hard to find a role model today that does not take full credit for their gifts and talents for themselves. There is a myriad of abilities that we as humans can cultivate, but the opportunities and the raw mind to do it in the first place has to originate from somewhere! For a person to take full credit for their God-given talents, physical appearance and mental capability it is simply not noble or fair. We did not create ourselves. Although the development of our personalities and abilities come from many combining factors, credit must be given to the God that even allowed those opportunities and circumstances to mold us into whom we all have become today. Do you glory in the things that you have nothing to do with? (Naturally good looks, an excellent memory, or the ability to multitask) Or, do you give credit where credit is due? Ask yourself if you really appreciate the circumstances that God has allowed you to be put in to develop the person you are today. Even more importantly–ask yourself if you are not taking advantage of all the circumstances and talents He has given you already. You cannot enjoy a blessed life if you do not work with the blessings God gave you!
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I am sorry that I complain more than give you praise and credit for. Lord, I know that you have blessed me with good health, a stable mind, and the circumstances to be born in a country where there are so many options for me. Lord, right now I want to praise you and thank you for all that you are. In my heart, I am bowing at your feet. You are a good God that has given me so much. Allow my eyes to see and appreciate and praise you at my blessings. Take the spirit of jealousy, greed and envy that are actually stealing from my own joy and put them out of my house and out of my mind. Help me not to covet what was never meant to be mine, for I know in my mind I cannot have it all; but my heart needs to catch up with that. In Jesus’ precious name, please bless me to SEE my blessings, Amen.”
