“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift us his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” Ecc. 4:9-10
Today’s Christian Daily Devotional
The Bible endorses friendships! We were not created to live in isolation. In this world, we are encouraged to be “dog eat dog”. So many people are in competition with even their closet friends. (Hence the term: Frenimy.) At any rate, this is not the way friendship was supposed to be designed. We are supposed to support, encourage and uplift the ones we love. If your views and friendships have morphed into something more sinister than enjoyable, please stop and take a moment to refocus and adjust your attitude and heart. If you don’t, you risk having a future of isolation…as eventually, your friends will want something better. Don’t we all want to live in a world where we have peace and harmony? If it cannot start with our own circle of friends and family, it will never happen.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the blessings of friendships. They are the very thing that makes life so enjoyable, and sometimes the very thing that makes life hurt. Please comfort me as I choose to really put myself out there by being a good friend. Give me the heart to only speak good things about everyone, especially those whom are dearest to me. Help me to speak the truth in love, if they are heading down a dangerous path, as I would want them to do the same for me. I am choosing now, not be offended if someone tells me something that I need to hear, so that I can grow to be a better person. I cast down the spirit of jealousy, envy and strife. Friendships should be a shelter of safety from this kind of venomous behavior. Allow me to bring out the best in everyone I surround myself with, and draw into my inner circle the kind of people that will bring out the best in me. In Jesus name, I pray for the kind of peace the world is craving for, Amen.”
