“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the health that I have. As I continue to take care of _____________________who does not have the ability to take care of him/herself, I am more aware of how precious the gift of my health and the healthy function of my body is.
The everyday tasks in life are double-fold for me; as I not only have to take care of myself and my needs, but also for the needs of ________________.
This commitment has left me feeling overwhelmed and overworked. As my workload seems to be never ending, it is causing me to fall into the lull of depression. I stand against that. Lord, help me not to feel sorry for the activities and things that I temporarily have to put on hold during this time in my life. Help me to celebrate the good things in my life—and see them with new eyes and a new appreciation.
This will strengthen me when I start to slip into that dark place and think about what I don’t have.
Lord, it is hard to watch _______________________’s health deteriorate. Although it says in your word, we go by faith and not by sight, what I see in the natural is very frightening. Please help me to notice every good and positive change in _______________’s condition and body. Help me to praise you as this will ward off depression and usher in the presence of God. Nothing is more healing for _________________than to be in the presence of you.
Sometimes I feel like giving up and quitting, as my effort and my work seem to go unnoticed and unappreciated. Lord, help me to keep in mind that although I am serving another person, my ultimate service is really to you. You see my heart, you appreciate me and that is all that matters. Help me not to get distracted with a bitter attitude by those who don’t have a thankful heart. Let that not be the reason for me doing the right thing.
Lord, allow me to be a good steward of my time. Remind me that my greatest power source is you. You have the power to increase my faith, my energy and my hope. You have the power to fill my attitude with the love of Christ. When I am able to serve with that kind of love, helping others will not feel like work anymore. It will be a pleasure as that is what I have been called to do. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, and if I look at helping _______________ in his/her condition, instead of being overwhelmed and bitter, I will be uplifted and refreshed. I am doing exactly what the Lord has called me to do, to show my love for Him by touching the lives of those He put me in stewardship over.
Please touch _________________’s body. Heal him/her in a miraculous way. As we are waiting for the signs in ___________________’s body to take a hold of that miracle, keep the faith in my heart alive. Increase my hope in you and and give me a joyful heart. The joy of the Lord is my strength and I pray a heaping portion upon myself.
Bless ___________________ and bless me to be a blessing to not only _______________________, but every person who comes in contact with me.
In Jesus’ precious name, give me a heart that is happy to serve, Amen.”
