“Dear Heavenly Father,
This season was originally celebrated with Christ at the very center. Over time, consumerism and commercialism have corrupted and cheapened it.
Jesus was the gift that God bestowed to all of humanity. He is the reason for the season. Santa Claus (in all his fun and jolliness) has taken the emphasis off of Christ Himself.
This year, our family has decided to give Jesus back His position. We will put aside our selfishness and greediness and ask the Holy Spirit within, “What would you like for Christmas?”
Lord, what would you like from me this year, in honor of your dear Son, Jesus? How can I give a gift that you could never possibly give yourself? My free-will decides to please you this year.
I ask that you speak to my heart all the desires of yours. Show me how I can make you smile all year ‘round, not just on this special day.
As we come together in celebration of the earthly birth of your Son; we ask that you still all of our hearts to hear your still and small voice within us.
Thank you for the blessing of friends, family and the health that we have today. Breathe new life and meaning into the tradition of Christmas that we may treasure the meaning of your gift to all of humanity.
In Jesus’ precious name, Happy Birthday. Bless me to be able to give you what you want from my life this year, Amen.”
