“Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you with a restless heart. My desire is to see this world a better place. But everyday that I awaken, I see only more sadness and destruction. I am beginning to loose my hope that things will ever get better.
There is a stirring in my spirit, and I know deep in my heart that the world needs a revival. We are swallowing the vomit of our own sin and loving it.
The people of God are no different than the people they claim to separate themselves from. Most “men and women of God” only wear the cloak of religion, don a pious expression, learn the “language of religion” and do not walk in power.
What began as a new life in Christ has been attempted to be finished by working in the flesh. So many of us walk in our own personal effort to be “good”. We have lost the point. There is nothing that simple human effort, no matter how sincere, can ever accomplish without the power of allowing the Holy Spirit to take complete control of our lives.
Our love and taste for sin has caused us to believe the lie that we can “dabble” in our favorite fleshly indulgences and still serve God with power.
Lord, forgive us of this detestable sin of pride and self-righteousness. The illusion of human “wisdom” mixed with a bit of your word has diluted the very power of the infinite God in our lives.
Lord, give us the humility to realize how feeble we are without you. I toss my own personal efforts and straining aside. Today, I will rely on the strength of the Living God within me to lead my decisions, to guide my heart and to overpower my personal desires.
Nothing is more important than what you put me on earth to accomplish and I have not done very much for your kingdom because I have been so distracted with myself. I am disgusted. This cannot be the way I live anymore. Help me to turn from myself, and look to you.
Today, I give you the keys to my heart. As you enter inside my dark hole, please look around and tell me what makes you uncomfortable. I want you to stay, and I know that you will not if I do not get rid of the sin that makes you sick.
Lord, show me, tell me and help me to clear my life of anything that would cause you to be uncomfortable in the residence of my heart.
I pray for conviction of sin and a turning away of the activities and lifestyles that have gotten your people so far away from you. The only thing that seems to distinguish them from the world is a Sunday afternoon spent in “your house”, the church.
I pray that every man, woman and child drop their personal pretensions, posturing, and positions and humbly drop to their knees in true repentance.
Lord, let us not be satisfied with our daily diet of vomit—the very sin that you detest. We will not eat of it anymore. We will now feast wisdom from your word for our nourishment. We will no longer be hungry for the very things that are destroying us to the core.
Lord, have mercy and baptize each one of us with your Holy Spirit. Let the fire of God consume our sinfulness and let the cleansing power of it feel so good that we will never return to our former lives of destruction and apathy.
In the name of Jesus, I bind the spirit of self-righteousness, spiritual apathy, spiritual blindness, love of sin, hidden sin, the false christ, selfishness, ritualism, idolatry, rebellion, wisdom of man, self-glorification, and personal flesh to the spirit of balak.
Lord, cover our minds and hearts with the blood of your Son, Jesus.
I speak revival to every heart that was at one time on fire for God but has since gone cold from allowing the flesh to rule instead of you. The world needs God and it will not find God if the church loves sin. We vow today to turn from our personal favorite sins. We make no excuses. The world will not find you, Lord if your people do not turn from their sin.
Let the power of God help each one of us to walk with the humility of Jesus Christ. Teach us how to love as He did. The world needs to see the love of Christ—give us this kind of love so we can overcome the evil that is overtaking the world and seducing the future generation.
In Jesus’ precious name, bless each one of us. Allow every believer the power to rise up to the call you have created us for, Amen.”
