I have everything a guy could want. I still wonder: what is this rat race about? Is the meaning of life to really to get the great gal, and die with a big 401k? I have that, and there has to be more.
Michael Jackson just died and they spent 4 million dollars on his funeral. He’s still dead. What good does all that attention and money do him now? Where is he now?
It got me thinking: Where will I be when I die? I am a good man. Am I ‘good’ enough? I always assumed that by being a good person, I would automatically go to heaven. What if I was one good deed away from actually being admitted in? How could a person know FOR SURE?
I started looking to the Bible for answers. Here is what I found:
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:3
We all have sin in our hearts, even if we do not act on them.
-Admit you are a sinner.
“For the wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23
Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is the result of sin. But a worse death is a spiritual death that alienates us from God, and this will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain for eternity.”
-Understand that you deserve death for your sin.
“…But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You cannot earn this gift, (by doing good works.) You must reach out and receive it.
-Ask God to forgive you and to save you.
“God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!” Romans 5:8
When Jesus died on the cross, he paid sin’s penalty. He paid the price for all sin! He lived a perfect life, yet died a horrible death in our place so that we could have a way to heaven. The only condition is that we believe Him and what He has done for us, understanding that after we accept Him, he will live inside us.
-God gave his earthly life for you to be in heaven. His love is what saves you—not religion, or a church membership!
“Whosever will call on the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved!” Romans 10:13
-Call out, anyone can have this gift of eternal life
“….If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9,10
“Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him…”
Let him in, you never know if he will knock again.
